The US Army Contracting Command, Joint Munitions & Lethality Contracting Center, in collaboration with the Project Manager for Combat Ammunition Systems, is organizing an Industry Day event at Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey, on December 19, 2008. This event is designed to inform and engage small businesses regarding the Army’s planned acquisition of artillery and mortar components over the next decade. The draft Request For Proposal (RFP) W15QKN-09-R-0364 is available for review and interested parties are encouraged to examine it prior to the event. Attendance is limited to two representatives per company and requires prior registration via a form submitted to a designated Army contact. Security procedures will be strictly enforced, including identification checks and vehicle searches, given the controlled access to the military installation. The Industry Day agenda includes presentations covering acquisition perspectives, the draft RFP details, pricing models, technical program requirements, and demonstrations on navigating Technical Data Packages. There will be dedicated times for addressing pre-submitted questions and any additional inquiries raised during the event. A working lunch will provide further opportunities for dialogue between government officials and industry participants. Additionally, a related Industry Day focusing on mortar and artillery components will take place on January 7, 2009, hosted by the Army Sustainment Command in Illinois, with contact details provided for interested firms. The overall initiative is a targeted effort to foster small business participation in fulfilling the Army’s munitions needs.
