The US Army Corps of Engineers Fort Worth District is preparing for a significant construction program related to the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) 2005 initiative affecting military installations in the San Antonio area. To gather industry input and assess market capability, they are hosting a free Industry Day Forum on August 15, 2006, at the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center in San Antonio. This event aims to explore alternative approaches and determine if the industry has the capacity to manage a multi-billion dollar program over the next four years. The program will focus primarily on medical-related facilities such as hospitals, clinics, surgical centers, and research laboratories, as well as supporting structures including barracks, training facilities, garages, fire stations, and physical fitness centers, involving new construction, renovations, and demolitions. Participation is open to both large and small businesses across a range of NAICS codes including construction of buildings, heavy and civil engineering construction, specialty trade contractors, and professional and technical services. Interested parties are encouraged to review the program details through a presentation available online and to complete a market research questionnaire by August 30, 2006. The outreach seeks broad industry involvement, including contractors, organizations, and associations, to ensure comprehensive input and maximize engagement in this critical defense infrastructure effort. Registration for the Industry Day is strongly recommended to facilitate planning and participation.
