Custom Integrated Robotic System
Solicitation # PWS-RD-TS-TSE
The Defense Threat Reduction Agency intends to award a firm-fixed-price, sole-source contract to Rocky Mountain Unmanned Systems LLC for the design, engineering, and delivery of a functional prototype Custom-Integrated Robotic System. This research and development effort requires a robotic platform capable of autonomous navigation in hazardous environments to generate real-time, three-dimensional hazardous atmosphere maps. The project centers on a complex software integration task that fuses data from a government-furnished multi-gas chemical detector, a commercial quadrupedal robot, a survey-grade 3D LiDAR sensor, and a tactical mesh networking radio. The agency is utilizing sole-source authority because Rocky Mountain Unmanned Systems is identified as the only vendor with the proprietary software framework and demonstrated experience necessary to integrate these specific data streams without causing unacceptable schedule delays. While the hardware is commercial-off-the-shelf, the specialized data-fusion architecture is unique to the vendor. Although this is not a request for competitive proposals, other responsible sources may submit capability statements by October 22, 2026, provided they can prove they possess the required pre-existing software capabilities.

Performance is tied to operational readiness at the designated defense facilities and requires precise alignment with existing network architectures and security protocols. Although no specific award amount or contractor name is provided, the focus on platform compatibility, reliability, and integration within secure environments underscores the mission-critical nature of the hardware deployment. This effort ensures continuity and enhanced capability for DTRA’s network operations under the ongoing SecureNet modernization initiative.
