This announcement serves as an advance notice from the Department of Defense regarding a forthcoming Request for Project Proposals (RPP) related to the Future Vertical Lift Initiative. It clarifies that this is not a solicitation for project proposals nor an award but a planning notification to inform members of the Vertical Lift Consortium and other interested industry parties about the Government's intent to pursue research in operational energy efficiency applications for vertical lift aviation. The Vertical Lift Consortium, formed following an industry day in May 2009, is expected to play a key role, with multiple project awards anticipated to be made to its members based on submitted proposals in response to the upcoming RPP. The RPP (solicitation number W15QKN-10-9-0003-RPP1) will be issued through the consortium's administrative agent, R. Vause and Associates, ensuring that eligible consortium members receive the solicitation directly. The Government's focus on energy efficiency reflects the strategic priorities in enhancing vertical lift aviation capabilities. Interested parties seeking more information or wishing to join the consortium are directed to the consortium’s website. The contract-related operations are managed by the office located at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ, under the Department of Defense. This announcement underscores the collaborative approach between the government and industry consortia to advance research in critical aviation technology areas.
