The Air Force Research Laboratory Munitions Directorate at Eglin Air Force Base is soliciting a sole-source contract for the replacement of critical ion source components on a Hitachi NX9000 FIB-SEM system, with Hitachi High-Tech America, Inc. identified as the exclusive supplier due to the proprietary nature of the equipment. The requirement encompasses the delivery and installation of OEM-specific parts, including the BEA-3809 LMIS2 ION Source, AAB-2940 OL Aperture Assembly, AAB-2941 O-Ring Set, EXCHK-W11102138 R-Condenser Lens Assembly, and AAU-0100 Scintillator 7 Type, all of which must be replaced with factory-original components to ensure operational integrity, data fidelity, and avoid catastrophic equipment failure. All removed components are to be returned to Hitachi under an exchange program, and no third-party or non-OEM alternatives are permitted. The work must be performed at Building 1202, Eglin AFB, Florida, with direct technical oversight by AFRL/RWTE personnel. The acquisition is justified under 10 U.S.C. 3204(a)(1) and RFO 6.104-1(a)(4), precluding competitive procurement due to the unique technical specifications and manufacturer exclusivity. The procurement is administered under contract FA282325C0034, with all correspondence routed exclusively via email to michael.hornberger.1@us.af.mil by the deadline of June 4, 2026, 2:00 PM Eastern Time. Submissions must include the subject line “NX9000 Source Replacement” and are restricted to .PDF, .doc, .docx, .xls, or .xlsx formats—.exe and .zip files are automatically filtered and blocked. The contracting office is located at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, and while no formal pricing, delivery schedule, or payment details are disclosed, the replacement of these high-value, time-sensitive consumables is critical to sustaining ongoing advanced materials research, gas deposition, and high-explosive development activities. No formal evaluation factors, line-item pricing, or standard contracting clauses are provided, as the award is solely based on technical necessity and vendor exclusivity.
