The Department of Veterans Affairs plans to issue a sole-source, firm-fixed price contract to Doorway Services and Solutions LLC for the repair and replacement of magnetic locking devices and fire alarm contacts on two sets of double doors at the Morristown Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) located in Morristown, Tennessee. This procurement is intended to enhance security for staff and patients by providing effective access control measures against potential active shooter threats or other security risks until law enforcement can arrive. The chosen vendor’s equipment is fully compatible with the existing prioritized magnetic locking systems, which are under the care of the Mountain Home Veterans Affairs Medical Center, limiting the building owner’s ability to perform repairs. This justifies the sole-source action under FAR Part 6.302-1, as only Doorway Services can meet the agency’s specific security and compatibility requirements. The scope of work includes repairing and installing magnetic locks and fire alarm contacts with power on the specified doors in the main lobby of the Morristown CBOC’s clinical area. Although this notice serves as an announcement of intent rather than a solicitation for competition, interested parties were invited to express their interest and capabilities by a given deadline, with responses subject to government evaluation but no guarantee of competition. The contract falls under the NAICS code 561622, with a $20.5 million size standard. The government maintains the right to use information from respondents as needed and is not obligated to award a contract based on this notice alone. Further procurement actions, including a potential solicitation, may follow depending on the evaluation of responses.
