The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office 15, plans to award a sole source contract to Opex Corporation for maintenance services on proprietary Opex scanner equipment used in two Meds by Mail locations in Dublin, Georgia, and Cheyenne, Wyoming. The contract will cover a base year plus up to four option years, providing demand call and preventative maintenance for Opex Scanner Model AS 7200i units with Model 72 Rapid Extraction Desk. These services include unlimited demand call maintenance requests, labor, and replacement parts—excluding consumable items worn through normal use—and bi-monthly preventative maintenance visits to ensure proper equipment function. This sole source award is justified under federal acquisition regulations due to Opex Corporation's exclusive proprietary rights to maintain these scanner models, with no alternative vendors authorized to perform such services. The acquisition falls under NAICS code 333318 and PSC code J075, and it is based on statutory authority related to the Multiple Award Schedule Program and federal property management laws. The maintenance services will ensure continued operation of the scanner equipment previously supported under a prior contract and are essential for the ongoing pharmaceutical mail operations managed by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
