The NAICS code for this requirement is 811310 with a small business size standard of $8 million. VA Maine currently has 11 diesel powered Caterpillar Generators for purposes of emergency power generation. These generators are an essential component of the hospitals building infrastructure system and are the single most important piece of equipment that will allow the hospital to remain operational in the event of a power loss. Emergency power equipment is both a major hospital system and requires highly specialized factory trained Caterpiller mechanics to perform their preventative maintenance. Hiring anyone else other than Caterpillar to work on this equipment could jeopardize the reliability and function of the generators. Further, many of the existing Caterpillar generators are still under factory warranty and require that preventative maintenance be performed by the equipment manufacturer; or the warranty will be voided. Milton CAT is the only contractor capable of performing the required work because this Emergency Generator System is proprietary to Caterpillar Corporation and will only have true full compatibility with other Caterpillar Corporation components and software. This notice of intent is not a solicitation nor is it a request for proposal. However, interested parties that believe they can satisfy the requirement listed above must clearly identify their capability to do so in writing by Monday, August 9, 2021 at 9 am EST time. Responses should be sent to Kenya Mitchell at contact@example.gov. Information submitted in response to this notice will be used solely to determine whether competitive procedures could be used for this acquisition. A determination not to open the requirement to competition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
