The Department of Veteran Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, Network Contracting Office 6, on behalf of the Durham VA Medical Center, plans to award a sole source Firm-Fixed Price contract to Advanced Sterilization Products Services Inc. for on-site preventive maintenance services for an ASP Sterrad Gas Plasma Sterilizer at the Greenville Health Care Center. The contract will have a one-year base period with four additional one-year options. This action is justified under the authority allowing for sole source awards when only one responsible source exists, as Advanced Sterilization Products is the exclusive original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and offers proprietary service software, publications, and OEM-new parts that third-party providers cannot access. The contract covers preventative maintenance, including the provision of PM2 kits, labor, travel costs, and recertifications to OEM specifications, supporting critical sterile processing operations essential for surgical procedures. Market research confirmed that no other providers can deliver these services without unacceptable delays or increased costs, ensuring there's no duplication of effort. The Government aims to award the contract effective around May 27, 2022, and clarifies that this announcement does not constitute a solicitation or a request for proposals. Interested parties who believe they can meet the requirements can contact the Contracting Officer, Paul O. Waite, within six calendar days, providing details about their business status and origin. However, submissions will not be reimbursed, and the announcement does not obligate the Government to make a purchase. The contract is associated with NAICS code 334510, and the point of contact is located in Hampton, VA.
