The Long Park Timber Stand Improvement (TSI) is a project to improve forest health and reduce fuels. The project objectives are to thin lodgepole pine trees across 1388 acres to promote tree growth and increase resilience of remaining trees to fire insects and disease while providing for conditions that are favorable as wildlife habitat. Thinning will be from below with chainsaws beginning with smallest trees first and leaving the healthiest trees for retention and propagation. The project is located on the Vernal Ranger District north of Red Cloud Loop in Summit Ox and South Side Parks.
