MACKAY LIBRARY RAMP REPLACEMENT & ASSOCIATED REPAIRS

The Town of Chelmsford, through the Town Manager's office, is soliciting sealed bids for the Mackay Library Ramp Replacement and Associated Repairs located at 43 Newfield St, North Chelmsford, MA. The primary scope of work involves the complete removal of the existing ramp down to the footings and the installation of a new ADA-compliant ramp system featuring new framing, composite decking, and aluminum railings. Additional requirements include the removal of the existing canopy and the construction of a new wood structure tied into the EPDM roof system, the installation of new gutters, downspouts, and canopy lighting, the replacement of deteriorated wood siding, and the framing and covering of an in-wall air conditioning unit. The project also necessitates the installation of a new ADA-compliant entry door and door opener. Bids must be submitted to the Department of Public Works at 9 Alpha Road, Chelmsford, MA, by October 14, 2026, at 1:00 pm, at which time they will be publicly opened. Submissions must include a bid deposit equal to 5 percent of the total bid amount, and the successful contractor will be required to furnish a 50 percent payment bond. All work must adhere to the contract documents dated September 30, 2026, prepared by Socotec US, and comply with M.G.L. c. 149, sections 44A through 44J, as well as Massachusetts Department of Labor Standards for prevailing wages. The selected contractor must provide a written guarantee covering all defects in materials and workmanship for two years from the date of acceptance. The Town reserves the right to award the contract to the bidder deemed to be in its best interest.
