AI Contract Overview
The Department of Defense, through NUWC Division Newport, has issued a special notice regarding the mandatory use of the Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment Solicitation Module. Effective October 1, 2026, contracting officers must utilize this module for publishing unclassified solicitations and receiving quotes and offers, in accordance with PGI 205.1. Vendors are strongly encouraged to register and familiarize themselves with the PIEE website and its associated training materials to ensure they can successfully submit proposals. Certain exceptions apply to this mandate, as the module is not required for single source competitions, simplified acquisition procedures, emergency acquisition flexibilities, or awards made outside the United States. Additionally, the module cannot be used for broad agency announcements or requests for task and delivery orders under indefinite delivery contracts, blanket purchase agreements, or basic ordering agreements until those capabilities are developed. This notice, identified by solicitation number N66604-PIEE-Solicitation-Module-Notice, serves as a functional directive for industry participants rather than a procurement for specific services.
