This contract involves a routine dredging project focused on addressing shoaling issues in the Manistique River and Harbor, with the entire procurement set aside exclusively for small businesses. The project entails hydraulically removing up to 92,500 cubic yards of material from designated stations to maintain a depth of 12 feet, allowing an additional foot for overdredge tolerance. The dredged material will be placed nearshore, approximately 7,000 feet southwest of the west breakwater along the Lake Michigan shoreline, between the Ordinary High Water Mark and the 10-foot depth contour. Placement will be carefully managed to prevent material from piling within one foot below current water levels, thereby reducing the risk of blowing sand, in coordination with the City of Manistique and the Michigan Department of Transportation. The solicitation, titled "Manistique Maintenance Dredging," was posted on May 8, 2025, with a response deadline of June 9, 2025.
