Full Description

This is a pre-solicitation synopsis in accordance with FAR Part 5. The United States Coast Guard Surface Forces Logistics Center has a requirement for Marine Sandblasting Services. The Government anticipates awarding a requirements type contract for one (1) base year and four (4) option years. The NAICS code for this requirement is 336611 and the small business size standard is 1,000 employees. All work will be performed at the U.S. Coast Guard Yard, Curtis Bay, Baltimore, MD on vessels both in dry-dock and pier side. The requirement for the Marine Sandblasting Services will be fulfilled using the procedures of FAR Part 12. The formal solicitation, the Request for Quote (RFQ), will tentatively be posted to FedBizOpps on July 15, 2011. The performance of work is as follows: The Marine Sandblasting Services will include sandblasting various exterior and interior surfaces to meet SSPC-SP10 (near white finish). The surfaces include aluminum or steel and on vessels, buoys and other components. Sandblasting is defined as a combination of compressed air and various types of media for the purpose of removing coatings, rust and preparing surface profile for paint preparation. Hand tools include but not limited to: Sandblaster, scaler, pneumatic chipper, needle gun, and piston sealer. Required safety equipment includes but not limited to: helmets, safety glasses and shoes, respirators, hearing protection. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which, if timely received and in accordance with the solicitation, shall be considered by this agency. Responses shall be concise and be specifically directed to the requirement referenced above. It is the offerors responsibility to monitor FedBizOpps for changes or amendments to this notice.
