Meet the Corner Program FY2024

The U.S. Embassy Tirana, under the U.S. Department of State, is inviting organizations to apply for funding to implement the Meet the Corner program in fiscal year 2024. This initiative targets small, remote schools located on the outskirts of Tirana, Vlora, and Kukes—areas where students face geographic or financial barriers to accessing American Corners. The program aims to extend the reach of the Corners’ flagship offerings, particularly in STEM education and countering disinformation, by bringing fully equipped, mobile resources directly to underserved communities. Emphasizing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility, the program prioritizes marginalized groups who are traditionally excluded due to distance or lack of infrastructure. The curriculum, based on American Spaces toolkits, will deliver interactive, non-traditional learning experiences including debates, American-style games and sports, and critical thinking activities. Each selected school will receive tailored programming designed to foster English language engagement and collaborative learning. The initiative plans to serve at least five schools per city and will integrate mentorship from U.S. Department of State alumni to support the delivery of STEM and countering disinformation content. Proposals are open to organizations capable of executing this outreach in targeted suburban areas, with all activities centered on expanding equitable access to American educational resources in Albania.
