The Provincial Archives has a large number of records on microfilm and microfiche. We require a reader/printer/scanner for staff and the public to access these records and make reproductions digitally and in print. The microfilm scanner should be able to: Read, create digital scans, and save via USB as well as permit printing on paper for records on positive/negative microfilm reels on 35mm film (mandatory) and 16mm (ideal). The scanner must be able to view/scan/print in black and white (mandatory), colour is optional. Have hardware and software compatible with Windows 11. Any scans or other saved information should be saved locally to the PC or similar device in pdf format (mandatory) or a suitable image format such as jpeg or tiff (optional). The scanning software must permit the user to be able to zoom in/out of an image, focus on it, rotate it, and capture the image. Other features of the software or accessibility concerns are optional.
PAS will only consider scanners that save copies of scanned microfilm records locally, software that saves copies to a cloud based system or other non-local storage system will be excluded from this process. Please provide information related to the warranty of the microfilm scanner and an options with costs for ongoing service or maintenance of the equipment.
