To drill three pairs (six in total) vertical 12.75-inch diameter steel helical piles to support three E-Z Line Pipe clamps along the exposed 18-inch gas transmission pipeline to prevent structural failure due to potential continued erosion. The piles will be drilled approximately 22 feet below existing grade in the Fresno Slough, below the point of scour to anchor the pipeline in place. The piles will each be capped with a 24”x24”x3/4” plate, which will then have a beam installed between a pair of piles to which the E-Z Line Pipe clamp will be bolted and attached. The support elements will remain in place until a permanent fix is conducted following receipt of all applicable permits. Two access routes are expected to be used during construction. The preferred primary access route is the established levee road on the west bank of Fresno Slough and will require minor grading for the crew to safely access the work area in the low flow channel. Grading will be limited to leveling the travel surface in the low flow channel and shall not be on the bank of the Fresno Slough. Mowing will be needed to access the area requiring grading. The width of the mowed and graded area in the low flow channel leading to the western edge of the work area will be approximately 15 to 20 feet. The secondary access route runs through the bed of Fresno Slough and will only be used if necessary. Prior to the start of construction, the project site will be cleared of grass and installed with temporary matting to facilitate staging.
