The Government plans to modify contract W91CRB-05-D-0033, originally awarded in September 2005 for the procurement of Lightweight Laser Designator Rangefinder Systems (LLDR), including spare parts and maintenance in support of Project Manager Soldier Equipment. This Firm Fixed Price Indefinite Delivery-Indefinite Quantity contract initially set a minimum order of 30 LLDR systems and a maximum of 1,250 units over three years. The modification will increase the maximum quantity to 1,635 LLDR systems. These systems are modular, compact targeting and designation devices capable of day and night operations in diverse weather conditions, with proprietary design and manufacture by Litton Laser Systems, a Northrop Grumman subsidiary. The Government lacks access to detailed technical data and cannot source comparable systems without incurring duplication of development and manufacturing costs or significant delivery delays. Given the sole-source nature of this contract, the Government does not intend to compete this effort through full and open competition, although interested parties may submit relevant information by September 6, 2006. No formal request for proposals will be issued for this modification. The contract falls under NAICS code 334511 and is managed by the Department of Defense’s office in Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. The modification supports full production and national maintenance of the LLDR systems, ensuring continued supply and upkeep of this essential soldier equipment.
