AI Contract Overview
This contract outlines a genotyping service for analyzing tail DNA samples from genetically modified mouse lines maintained by the Section on Neural Circuits at the NIAAA, NIH. The primary goal is to accurately determine the genetic composition of each mouse to support downstream experimental analyses, with genotyping results critical for validating phenotypic differences. A key requirement is the rapid turnaround time, with results needing to be delivered within 24 hours of sample receipt to accommodate age-sensitive experiments. Samples are collected by the Lead Project Manager and trainees, then processed by the contracting company, Transnetyx, which also supplies the plates and labels for DNA samples. The scope of work includes receiving DNA samples, genotyping for specific alleles (ranging from 1 to 8 alleles per sample), emailing results promptly, and maintaining an accessible record of results. Additionally, the company must store samples for at least six months to enable potential retesting. The contract period spans from July 2026 to July 2027, with performance located in Maryland. The opportunity is issued by the National Institutes of Health, Department of Health and Human Services, with no set-aside restrictions, and the primary point of contact is John Burton.

Full Description
Requirements:
The genotyping service will be used to analyze tail DNA samples from genetically modified mouse lines maintained by the Section on Neural Circuits at the NIAAA, NIH. Accurate genotyping is essential to determine the genetic composition of each mouse and forms the foundation for all downstream experimental analyses. Without this information, we cannot proceed with our experiments, as the validity of our data depends on the ability to quantify phenotypic differences based on genotype.
Rapid turnaround is also critical, as some experiments are age-sensitive and require genotyping results within 24 hours of sample receipt. The mouse tissue samples to be processed by Transnetyx will be collected by the Lead Project Manager (LPM), and trainees in the Section on Neural Circuits at the NIAAA.
- SCOPE OF WORK/TASKS
Tail DNA is provided using plates and labels supplied by the company. The company processes the samples to detect specific alleles designated by us, typically ranging from 1 to 8 alleles per sample. Results must be available within 24 hours of the plate's arrival. These results are emailed to us, and a record is maintained for reference. Additionally, we require that the samples be stored by the company for a minimum of six months to allow for any necessary retesting.
The following tasks are required for this requirement:
- DNA sample receipt
- Genotyping of samples
- Emailing result
- PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE July 2026- July 2027
