AI Contract Overview
The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) plans to enter into an Other Transaction (OT) production agreement with The Whiskey Project Group (TWPG) for the manufacture of Multi-Mission Reconnaissance Craft (MMRC) Bravo variants. This follows a competitive prototype OT awarded by the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) in August 2023, with TWPG successfully completing the prototype phase by June 2025. The production phase will involve the delivery of up to 10 or more MMRC Bravo vessels outfitted with specialized communication, navigation, and sensing systems, as well as auxiliary equipment. The contract also includes provisions for craft maintenance, training, and sustainment to meet the needs of the U.S. Marine Corps under the DIU’s "Expeditionary Small Boats" project. The agreement is expected to be finalized by Summer 2026, with production taking place primarily in Edenton, North Carolina. This effort falls under NAICS code 336612, covering boat building for small craft such as rigid inflatable boats (RIBs), and is managed by NAVSEA Headquarters in Washington, D.C. The solicitation was posted in May 2026 with responses due mid-May 2026. Point of contact for the contract includes both TWPG’s CEO, Darren Schuback, and NAVSEA representatives Jerry Low and Amber Wargo. This initiative represents a significant step in developing and fielding advanced small craft tailored to the operational needs of the U.S. Marine Corps through innovative prototype-to-production transition processes.
