Nanaimo Regional General Hospital Senior Friendly ED - General Contractor

The Vancouver Island Health Authority is seeking tenders for a general contractor to execute the Senior Friendly Emergency Department project at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, located at 1200 Dufferin Crescent, Nanaimo, BC. The scope of work includes the renovation of 13 patient rooms, the installation of a new secure storefront wall at the main emergency department entrance, and various interior finish upgrades such as the removal and replacement of flooring, wall protection installation, patching and painting, and the removal and installation of telemetry stations. The project is governed by a CCDC 2 – 2020 Stipulated Price Contract with specific supplementary conditions regarding termination rights and payment dispute timelines. Final project completion, designated as Ready-for-Move-In, is targeted for 2027. Tenders must be submitted in English via the Bids and Tenders system by November 5, 2026, at 2:00 PM PST. Submissions must include a stipulated bid price, a proposed schedule, and a mandatory digitally verified bid bond for 10 percent of the bid amount. Additional requirements for respondents include a WCB Clearance Letter, a Criminal Record Check Verification letter, and a signed confidentiality acknowledgment. Awarding is at the owner's sole discretion based on the best overall value, evaluating price, schedule, and RFT compliance. The successful contractor will be required to provide performance and labour and material bonds within 14 days of the notice of award and must adhere to strict MPI painting standards and Health Canada infection control specifications.
