Nemours Foundation

The New York State Department of Health's Division of Chronic Disease Prevention plans to contract with The Nemours Foundation for a two-year period from May 1, 2024, to April 30, 2026. The purpose of this contract is to support the integration of physical activity and nutrition standards within early childhood education (ECE) systems across the state, including initiatives such as the quality rating and improvement system, professional development programs, licensing, and statewide technical assistance networks, all aligned with the CDC’s Spectrum of Opportunities framework. Nemours, recognized as a leading expert in this field, has previously developed NY-specific training programs and maintains essential assessment tools that are currently utilized by trainers statewide. Their extensive experience working with NY’s ECE systems and existing partnerships uniquely position them to advance the department’s objectives and fulfill the required deliverables. This sole-source contract, awarded without competitive bidding due to Nemours being the designated single source award recipient, covers all counties in New York State. The contract value is estimated between $500,000 and $2,000,000. The project aims to leverage Nemours’ expertise to enhance statewide efforts in promoting healthy nutrition and physical activity among young children, thereby supporting public health initiatives across the state. The solicitation was posted on June 14, 2024, with a response deadline of June 24, 2024.
