The Department of Defense, specifically the II MEF Chemical Biological Incident Response Force (CBIRF) based in Indian Head, Maryland, intends to award a sole source contract to Red Barn Innovations of Prospect, Connecticut, for the procurement of two Forcible Entry Doors. This procurement follows Simplified Acquisition Procedures under FAR 6.302-1, allowing for other than full and open competition, as Red Barn Innovations is considered the only source capable of meeting the unique training needs of the CBIRF. The equipment is critical for training Marine personnel in forcible entry techniques during chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive (CBRNE) incidents. Although this notice is not a solicitation for competitive quotes, interested firms believing they can fulfill the requirement are invited to notify the Contracting Officer. The government reserves the sole discretion to decide whether to compete based on such responses. The contract falls under NAICS code 611710, relating to educational services, and does not involve a formal solicitation process. The point of contact for this acquisition is SSgt Jessycca McKellop, who can be reached via email. The overall action emphasizes the specialized nature of the requirement and the justification for limiting competition to a single source to meet the CBIRF’s mission-critical training objectives.
