The Department of Defense intends to award a sole source contract to Midstate Equipment, Inc. for the rental of a John Deere 1050J Dozer, or an equivalent, at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. The rental period covers May 1, 2010, through September 30, 2010, and the procurement will be conducted using Simplified Acquisition Procedures under a total small business set-aside. This decision follows the recognition of a government oversight during solicitation F1U3C49356AL07, where Midstate Equipment’s offer was received but mistakenly not considered. Since their offer would have been the successful one under the original solicitation, the previously awarded contract was terminated for the government's convenience to allow the new sole source award to Midstate Equipment. The solicitation number for this notice is F1U3C40104AL01, with the contracting activities managed by the 354th Contracting Squadron at Eielson AFB, Alaska. The contract specialist responsible for this procurement is SrA Cory Beal, who serves as the point of contact for inquiries related to this purchase. The procurement falls under NAICS code 532490, related to equipment rental and leasing services. This action assures the government’s compliance with acquisition regulations while rectifying the initial oversight to secure the needed equipment efficiently.
