Notice of intent to issue a sole source contract. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), US Meat Animal Research Center, Clay Center, NE, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis to Ross Industries, Inc. for a TC700MC-1 Non-Adjustable Stainless Steel Head Tenderizer; under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. The tenderizer has a S/S magnetic head force limiting design with 224 sharpened surgical steel blades. Complete with safety monitored guards and completely enclosed stainless steel cabinet mounted on casters two of which are locking. The tenderizer also has extended roller In-feed with enclosure. A 3 hp brake motor is used for tenderizing and conveyor advance. Thus, this unit can process 3,000 lbs/hr. This unit has a built-in integral intervention spray bars with a perimeter gutter to capture overspray. A wall-mounted central mixing system for intervention concentrate and wall-mounted RTU tank and electrical pump with bypass tuning valve are included. The intervention in-feed manifold includes shut off valve, sampling port, and strainer. The tenderizer and intervention application features can operate independently of one another allowing the equipment to be used for various experiments without the need of separate machines. This tenderizer is consistent with equipment used in previous research allowing for continuity of data collection. This is a notice of intent and is not a request for competitive quotations or proposals. No solicitation is available. Firms that believe they can provide this equipment are encouraged to identify themselves and provide a substantive statement with descriptive literature and any other supporting information to the Contracting Officer within 10 days of publication of this notice. All information received within 10 days of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government to determine if the alternative equipment meets the Government's requirements and is capable of performing the intended task(s).
