The 2026 International Joint Research Rapid Support Project, solicitation number 2026-1045, is a government-funded initiative managed by the National Research Foundation of Korea and the Ministry of Science and ICT. The project focuses on developing core original technologies for high-density parallel light sources, specifically micro-LED and micro-OLED, for use in AI data center optical interconnects. The total government support funding is 737.5 million KRW for a 16-month performance period running from December 2026 to March 2028. This project is classified as a National Strategic Technology in the semiconductors and next-generation OLED sectors, aiming to advance from Technology Readiness Level 3 to TRL 5. A mandatory requirement for this solicitation is the establishment of an international joint research network with Japanese research institutions to secure expertise in organic light-emitting materials and patents.
