AI Contract Overview
The National Institutes of Health, through its Clinical Center’s Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences, intends to award a sole source fixed price purchase order to Bosio Metal Specialties, Inc. for custom designed and manufactured cleanroom stainless steel tables, workstations, and carts that meet the exacting standards of the NIH Nuclear Pharmacy Facility in Bethesda, Maryland. The requirement is for specialized equipment that can only be produced and delivered by this vendor due to their unique capability to assemble, transport, and remove debris within a five-week lead time, making them the sole source capable of fulfilling these specific cleanroom and logistical demands. The acquisition falls under the Federal Acquisition Regulation Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures, exempting it from full competition requirements, and is structured as a small business set-aside under the SBA’s Total Small Business Set-Aside category. The contract is identified by solicitation number 26-005264, with the product service code 6515 and NAICS code 332999, and will be performed entirely at the Bethesda, Maryland facility. The proposed award is not open for competitive bidding, but interested parties may submit their capabilities and interest by May 27, 2026, at 9 a.m. EST, to the NIH Office of Purchasing and Contracts. The government retains full discretion to proceed without competition based on the responses received, and all comments must reference the solicitation number and be submitted via email to the designated contracting specialist, Kristin Nagashima. This procurement reflects a non-competitive acquisition justified by unique technical and logistical constraints, authorized under simplified procedures due to the value being below the simplified acquisition threshold.
