AI Contract Overview
This contract involves providing site preparation and oak release services within the Black River State Forest in Jackson County, Wisconsin, with two separate projects covering approximately 65 acres and 45 acres respectively. The work focuses on preparing forest stands for upcoming timber harvests by removing unwanted species and promoting oak growth. Specifically, the first project requires basal herbicide application to all deciduous non-oak stems between 3 feet tall and 5 inches DBH, along with cutting and felling conifers less than 5 inches DBH, ensuring stumps are no higher than 6 inches and no cut stems are left hanging. The second project mandates cutting all conifers, red maple, aspen, and witch hazel under 5 inches DBH, with similar stipulations for stump height and stem management. Both projects emphasize the prompt release of young oaks bent over by cut stems and aim for at least 95% treatment of targeted species. The work must be completed by December 31, 2025, and bidders are encouraged to inspect the sites beforehand. The contract is managed by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, with a response deadline of January 24, 2025, and a contract value estimated between $50,000 and $150,000. Interested parties can contact the designated project coordinator for site access and further inquiries.
