OC Conservation Corps / OC Parks Open Space Brush Clearing and Fire-Fuel Reduction

The OC Conservation Corps, in partnership with OC Parks, will undertake vegetation management activities along the Anaheim Hills Trail in Anaheim and the Talega Trail in San Clemente to reduce wildfire fuel loads and create defensible space for emergency response. The work includes thinning dense undergrowth, removing invasive plant species, and clearing dead or diseased trees using weed whips with metal blades, chainsaws, pole saws, and hand tools. These efforts aim to enhance safety for first responders and equipment during wildfires and other emergencies by improving access and egress along the trails. The project is scheduled to occur between Fall 2026 and Winter 2029 and is identified under Public Project Number PP-26-0083. All activities are being planned and coordinated by Orange County through its agency office in California, with Virginia Gomez, Senior Planner, serving as the primary point of contact for inquiries.
