OC Conservation Corps / OC Parks Open Space Brush Clearing and Fire-Fuel Reduction

The OC Conservation Corps, in cooperation with OC Parks, will execute the Open Space Brush Clearing and Fire-Fuel Reduction project, identified as Public Project Number PP-26-0083. The primary objective is to establish defensible space along the Anaheim Hills Trail in Anaheim and the Talega Trail in San Clemente, Orange County, California, to ensure safer emergency ingress and egress for crews and equipment during wildfires and other emergencies. The scope of work includes thinning, clearing, and removing dense vegetation undergrowth, invasive species, and dead or diseased trees, as well as performing fuel management activities within 30 feet of structures to reduce flammable vegetation. These activities are scheduled to take place from Fall 2026 through Winter 2029. Work must be performed using hand tools, pole saws, chainsaws, and weed whips with metal blades. The project is subject to environmental constraints to ensure no healthy mature scenic trees are removed, no significant erosion occurs, and no endangered, rare, or threatened species are harmed. This project has been granted a CEQA Notice of Exemption based on minor alterations to land, with the official decision date recorded as June 9, 2026.
