The Naval Sea Systems Command plans to extend its existing contract with Global PCCI for the continued operation and maintenance of the U.S. Navy’s Emergency Ship Salvage Material (ESSM) System, supporting the Director of Ocean Engineering, Supervisor of Salvage and Diving (SUPSALV). This bridge contract extension will begin on February 4, 2007, and is set to last up to six months or until a successor contract is awarded, whichever occurs first. The extension ensures uninterrupted support for the ESSM system while the Navy completes the procurement process. To select the next contract holder, the Navy previously issued a competitive Request for Proposals under solicitation number N00024-06-R-4105, which was released on August 17, 2006, and closed on October 3, 2006. The original contract, N00024-01-D-4018, focuses on managing, maintaining, and operating ESSM bases, critical for naval salvage operations and emergency response capabilities. This interim extension underscores the importance of maintaining continuous operational readiness of salvage materials while the acquisition process moves forward.
