AI Contract Overview

The contract involves a sole source procurement with Greer Communications, located in Clarksville, Tennessee, for support of existing Zetron paging equipment installed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. This limited competition is justified by Greer Communications' original design and installation of the systems, making it cost prohibitive for the government to seek an alternate source. The acquisition will follow Simplified Acquisition Procedures under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 and FAR 13.106-1(b), with the NAICS code 811213 and a small business size standard of $7 million. Although no competitive solicitation will be issued, other firms interested in meeting the requirements may submit a written capability statement within 14 days; however, the government retains sole discretion to proceed with the sole source negotiation if no viable responses are received. The contract covers support for a base period from March 15, 2009, to March 14, 2010, with four one-year option periods extending through March 14, 2014. The scope includes maintenance and service for multiple paging and radio communication devices, such as Zetron paging terminals, Kenwood paging transmitters and mobile radios, GE base stations, a Glenyre paging transmitter, and associated equipment located at various facilities including Blanchfield Army Community Hospital and sites in Hopkinsville, Nashville, Pleasant View, and Clarksville, Tennessee. The contract also incorporates quarterly service under the Zetron Service Assistance Program. Interested parties were instructed to express their interest by March 6, 2009, with points of contact provided for inquiries related to the procurement.
