PL-DRC-00013-2025 Cal Water Well

The City of Oroville is overseeing project PL-DRC-00013-2025, which involves the drilling of a critical water well by California Water Service (CWS). Located on a 1.13-acre empty lot on the east side of 7th Avenue, south of Huntington Lane (APN: 035-380-059-000), the project is designed to mitigate water supply unreliability caused by drought conditions affecting surface water. The site is zoned as Intensive Commercial (C-2) and is situated within a fully developed industrial area. The scope of work includes the initial drilling of the well followed by the construction of essential site improvements, including a pump building, water treatment facilities, a vertical turbine well pump with controls, and the installation of electrical service and equipment. The project has been granted a Notice of Exemption from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) under the Ministerial Project status, as it is consistent with zoning and general plan requirements and does not require discretionary permits.
