The United States Naval Medical Research Command is procuring two Kilobaser N2Go portable nitrogen generators and two corresponding transport cases from MABEAL GmbH of Austria on a sole-source basis under FAR Part 12 as a commercial item acquisition, justified by the unique technical integration requirements of the Kilobaser DNA/RNA synthesizers and the absence of viable alternatives that meet mission-critical operational needs. The equipment must deliver nitrogen at pressures up to 6.5 bar with a flow rate of 0.8 to 2 liters per minute, feature an internal 2-liter gas storage tank, be compact and portable at 400×270×315 mm and 15 kg, operate on 24 VDC input, and include automatic pressure regulation with a one-year warranty. Delivery is specified for Frederick, Maryland, with an estimated lead time of 6 to 8 weeks following order placement, and all contractors must be registered in the System for Award Management with a valid Unique Entity Identifier. The procurement is conducted under statutory authority 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) and FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), recognizing the Kilobaser N2Go as the only product capable of safely eliminating hazardous high-pressure gas cylinders in expeditionary laboratory environments while maintaining compatibility with existing synthesizer systems. No competitive evaluation is being conducted, and no pricing, CLIN structure, warranty terms beyond the standard, packaging specifications, or inspection protocols beyond technical performance criteria are detailed in the solicitation. The contracting office, located in Silver Spring, Maryland, will issue the award only to vendors with SAM registration and UEI, and responses are due by June 8, 2026.
