The Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point’s Satellite Contracting Office intends to award a sole source contract to Hoffman Engineering Corporation for the procurement of a Portable Photometric Calibration System. The requirement stems from the Fleet Readiness Center East’s need for a specialized calibration system compatible with their Digital Radiometer. Market research confirmed Hoffman Engineering Corporation as the only vendor authorized and capable of providing the exact equipment specified in the Technical Manual for Calibration Procedures, as the related technical data and manufacturing process are proprietary to Hoffman Engineering. This exclusivity justifies the sole source procurement under the Federal Acquisition Regulation, indicating no other suppliers can fulfill the agency’s requirements. While this is not a solicitation for competitive quotes, the government will consider any quotes or expressions of interest submitted within fifteen days from the notice’s publication date to determine whether to pursue competition. The decision not to compete remains at the government’s discretion, with responses primarily used to assess market interest. The points of contact for this contracting effort are two contract specialists at MCAS Cherry Point, James M. Rhodes and Sherry L. Kelly, who can provide additional information regarding the requirement. The contract pertains to the NAICS code 333314 and falls under the Department of Defense’s Commanding Officer office at Cherry Point, North Carolina.
