Predicted Signal Phase and Timing for Blocked Crossing Mitigation Test Phase 1

The Predicted Signal Phase and Timing for Blocked Crossing Mitigation project is a Federal Railroad Administration initiative conducted in partnership with Union Pacific RR and an industry data handler. The project aims to deploy a test system that uses railroad train location data and a cloud application to estimate blocked crossing events. These predicted events will be communicated via Signal Phase and Timing data to specific mobile applications and vehicle navigation systems. The primary objectives are to evaluate the feasibility, effectiveness, and scalability of this technology in mitigating crossing risks. This specific contract action covers Phase 1 of the project, which has a base period of performance of 12 months.
