NOTICE OF OPPORTUNITY Concession Management of Campgrounds and Day Use Areas George Washington & Jefferson National Forests April 10, 2014 The George Washington and Jefferson National Forests announce that a prospectus for a special use permit for the operation and maintenance of Beartree and Grindstone campgrounds and day use areas will be available soon. These recreation areas are located in Washington and Smyth Counties, Virginia, within the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area. These sites are currently managed by a concessionaire under a special use permit that expires December 2014. A prospectus will be issued on or around May 5, 2014, to solicit applications for a special use permit for campgrounds and related Granger-Thye concessions. A permit will be issued to authorize use of National Forest System lands in providing high-quality public service in the operation and maintenance of Government-owned recreation facilities. The authorized officer for this business opportunity is the Forest Supervisor for the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests, 5162 Valleypointe Parkway, Roanoke, VA 24019-3050.
