Public Works Garage Addition

The Town of Fort Frances is soliciting bids for the construction of a 50ft by 60ft addition to the Public Works Garage located at 900 Wright Avenue North in Fort Frances, Ontario. Under solicitation 2026-OF-13, the contractor will be responsible for site preparation, excavation, foundation construction, and the assembly and erection of a pre-engineered steel building shell provided by the Town. The scope of work includes the installation of all plumbing, mechanical, and electrical components, as well as building finishes such as cladding, roofing, and insulation. There is also a provisional scope item to replace the existing garage and office roofing with matching standing metal seams. Bids must be submitted electronically via the bids&tenders system by September 29, 2026, at 2:00 PM CST. Submissions must include a stipulated price, a detailed project cost breakdown, and bid security amounting to 10% of the bid price. The successful contractor must provide proof of insurance, a WSIB clearance certificate, and a signed Occupational Health and Safety Agreement. Work is expected to commence within five days of contract signing, with substantial performance required by March 31, 2027. Payments will be made monthly, with a 10% holdback maintained for 45 days following substantial completion in accordance with the Construction Lien Act 1983.
