Full Description

In accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) 6.302-1 & 11.105(a)(1), The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with NxStage Medical, Inc. for a sole brand item---NxStage One Home hemodialysis system (a patented product). After extensive market research, NxStage One is the only commercially-available home dialysis which meets VAPHS' needs and NxStage Medical, Inc. is the only company that provides the product, which is:" FDA-approved for home use " No modification to patient's home or plumbing " Must be a single pass system without regeneration or reuse of dialysate " Designed to connect directly to patient's home water supply without separate water treatment or purification independent of system. Procurement will include all supplies; home delivery of equipment; 24/7 technical; clinical and customer support for patients and VAPHS dialysis unit staff. In addition, contractor will supply education and training for dialysis staff and patients to include education and program materials for staff and patients. All contract details will be included in the Request For Quote (RFQ), which will be released on or about July 6, 2009. All pertinent information regarding this solicitation will be posted on the Fed Biz Ops website.
