The United States Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) will conduct a focused forum on August 12, 2004, from 1 to 4 PM at the Chesapeake Conference Center in Chesapeake, Virginia. This event is designed to tackle the challenge of implementing the Department of Defense’s Net-Centric Data Strategy specifically for joint warfighter operations. The forum aims to provide a platform where USJFCOM can share information with stakeholders from industry, academia, and government agencies about data interoperability and integration issues related to metadata technologies, including extensible mark-up language, in order to enhance joint-coalition collaboration. As part of its role as the Joint Force Integrator, USJFCOM seeks to facilitate coordination among various combatant commands, agencies, services, and coalition partners to ensure effective metadata solutions that support data sharing and discovery in a post-and-subscribe environment. Key objectives of the forum include disseminating the command’s data interoperability challenges, engaging participants to explore ways to incorporate data from legacy and developing systems, identifying necessary data sets for joint warfighter communities of interest, and advancing metadata tagging strategies. The agenda covers presentations and discussions on the USJFCOM Net-Centric Environment, Joint Battle Management Command and Control, Joint-Coalition Data Strategy Collaboration, and Joint Deployment Process Owner Data Transparency. Attendance is free but limited, with registration encouraged through USJFCOM’s online contact point. The contract associated with this event was announced on July 23, 2004, with Vicki A. Morris serving as the contract negotiator.
