The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, is issuing a task order under Contract No. W91278-07-D-0002 with Engineering Design Technologies, Inc., originally awarded as an Indefinite Delivery Contract for architectural and engineering (AE) design services. This task order calls for the design of a stormwater infrastructure system aimed at increasing stormwater capacity by managing peak flows within an upper tributary of Noonday Creek in Cobb County, Georgia. The project involves creating an impoundment facility to intercept runoff from a 1.7 square mile drainage basin, located near specific roads including Williams Drive NE and Bells Ferry Road NE, without requiring any underground utility relocations. The proposed infrastructure includes an earthen fill area approximately 90 by 300 feet, containing a concrete weir and a multi-barreled reinforced concrete culvert to control stormwater flow. In addition, the design must incorporate energy dissipation and bank stabilization features to curb erosion downstream of the channel. This effort is part of the Atlanta Environmental Infrastructure initiative and is focused on enhancing environmental resilience through effective stormwater management in the region. The opportunity is restricted to the incumbent contractor under the existing contract, emphasizing continuity and leveraging prior contract competition and award processes.
