ACOA requires the services of a Contractor to provide remote SI services for upcoming virtual events on an “as and when requested’’ basis.
Given that many people still work remotely post-pandemic, the Agency anticipates organizing an increasing number of virtual events. The virtual format of these events makes it easier for media or employees from all regions, representing both official languages, to attend. It is the Government of Canada’s responsibility to ensure that information is available in both official languages and that the language rights of members of the public (including media) are respected. Therefore, it is incumbent upon ACOA to offer simultaneous interpretation to ensure it meets official language obligations as relates to communications with and services to the public.
The Contractor must provide remote SI services for various events based on source material, which can be provided in advance, upon request.
Events vary in length, from approximately 60 to 120 minutes, depending on the nature of the event (funding announcement vs. roundtable discussion) and the number of questions. They are delivered in either English or French only, or a combination of the two languages.
