Request for Information - Aluminide Treatments for Liner and Straightener Mesh
Contract Overview
Solicitation details, issuing organization, response deadlines, documents, and interested companies for this government contract opportunity.
AI Contract Overview
The Air Force Test Center’s Installation Contracting Division at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee is seeking information from qualified vendors capable of providing aluminide surface treatments for aerospace components, specifically Nickel-Chromium Alloy 230 straightener mesh and flow liners operating under high-temperature dry air conditions up to 2000°F. The requirements demand corrosion protection methods such as pack-cementation or chemical vapor deposition with adhesion strength matching the substrate, ensuring durability under extreme thermal stress. Substrates include wire mesh with a 0.100-inch diameter and thin-walled welded liners ranging from 2 to 5 feet in length and 1 to 2.5 feet in diameter, both subject to direct airflow exposure. The government is conducting market research to evaluate vendor capabilities and is not making a purchase or soliciting offers at this time. Respondents must provide company details including name, address, contact information, and a valid SAM Unique Entity Identifier, along with a comprehensive technical overview covering their background, corrosion protection expertise, typical applications, quality assurance protocols, inspection methods, and relevant certifications or standards. Confirmation of NIST or CMMC compliance and JCP certification is requested if applicable. All submissions must be emailed to Haley Smith by 4:00 PM Central Time on June 12, 2026. Participation is voluntary and at no cost to the respondent, with no obligation for the government to award a contract based on responses. The announcement is not a solicitation, and no funds are available for preparation of replies. Follow-up discussions may occur if the government identifies potential alignment between vendor capabilities and mission needs.

INTRODUCTION
Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) has a need for aluminide treatments (pack-cementation or CVD) for Nickel-Chromium Alloy 230 substrates capable of withstanding high-temperature oxidation reaching or exceeding 2000°F. Discussion of other methodologies is acceptable.
The primary requirements are:
1. Aluminide Treatments for Straightener Mesh - The substrate shall be a nickel-chromium Alloy 230 wire mesh directly exposed to dry air flow. It has a wire diameter of approximately 0.100 inches, and a total cross-sectional diameter of approximately 1 foot. Adhesion of the treatment must be comparable to the substrate’s strength.
2. Aluminide Treatments for Liners - The substrate will be welded, thin-walled, nickel-chromium Alloy 230 flow liners directly exposed to dry air flow. The liners are 2-5 feet long and 1-2.5 feet in diameter. Adhesion of the treatment must be comparable to the substrate’s strength.
SUBMISSION DETAILS
Responses should include:
1. Company Information: Company name, company address, and telephone number and e-mail address of company point of contact.
2. System for Award Management (SAM) Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) Number.
3. Overview of company’s technical capabilities including:
a. The vendor’s background
b. Key corrosion protection capabilities
c. Typical applications for these processes
d. Quality assurance program, metrics, inspection methods, etc.
e. Applicable specifications or standards for services in question
d. Confirmation of NIST and/or CMMC compliance and JCP certification if obtained
Submission: Provide your company’s overview of technical capabilities to meet the subject requirement no later than 4:00 PM Central Time (CT) on 12 June 2026, via email to Ms. Haley Smith at haley.smith.10@us.af.mil.
NOTE: If the technical capabilities of your company align with the requirement, the Contracting Officer may contact the company POC to schedule a follow-up discussion with the Government Project Team.
