The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic (SPAWARSYSCEN LANT) issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking details on a Compact MUOS Terminal (CMT) designed to support the MUOS black-side waveform, specifically providing Point-to-Net services over a single channel at a minimum data rate of 9.6 kbps. The terminal must be compact, with a maximum volume of 200 cubic inches, and capable of accepting data input via Ethernet, powered by an external battery with a maximum consumption of 12 Watts, and able to sustain a 50% transmit duty cycle for more than two hours without overheating in ambient conditions. While the CMT is not required to have COMSEC capabilities, it must be compatible with external encryption devices. Furthermore, interoperability with the Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) version of MUOS and the Department of Defense Gateway is essential, including the ability to obtain MUOS User Entry authorization. This RFI serves informational and planning purposes, not as a solicitation or offer request, and the government does not intend to award a contract based on the responses received. Vendors are invited to provide company details, a brief description of relevant capabilities or products, and any applicable cost information, but proprietary data should not be submitted as all information will become public. Submissions were due by noon on July 30, 2012, and questions were directed to specified technical and contract points of contact via email. The announcement and related documents were accessible through the SSC LANT e-commerce website.
