AI Contract Overview
The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), under the Program Executive Office for Unmanned Aviation and Strike Weapons (PEO(U&W)) and the Navy and Marine Corps Small Tactical Unmanned Aircraft Systems Program Office (PMA-263), has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to conduct market research aimed at identifying potential providers capable of delivering a small to medium-sized Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) Tactical Resupply Unmanned Aircraft System (TRUAS). This system is intended to meet the United States Marine Corps' operational needs for small unit logistics support during Expeditionary Advanced Base Operations (EABO) and Distributed Maritime Operations (DMO), focusing on delivering supplies across the last tactical mile. The government is exploring awarding an Other Transaction Agreement (OTA) under 10 U.S.C. 4022 to support prototype projects for TRUAS, planned for Fiscal Year 2026. The RFI emphasizes that it is solely a market research tool and does not constitute a solicitation or commitment to award contracts, nor will the government pay for any responses received. Amendments to the RFI have extended the response deadline to November 28, 2025, and provided detailed FAQs to assist interested parties with requirements such as payload capabilities, autonomy, maintainability, cyber survivability, and compatibility with existing systems like the Unmanned Common Controller (UCC) and MANGL systems. As of May 2026, the government has signaled a potential move to utilize the Naval Air Systems Consortium (NASC) to facilitate awarding the OTA agreements, with further engagement occurring through NASC membership meetings. The government is currently not accepting additional responses or questions, solidifying this announcement as an informational update for interested vendor communities.
