The Department of Defense, through the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic (SPAWARSYSCEN Atlantic), is seeking information on commercial off-the-shelf handheld radar systems designed for through-the-wall surveillance (TWS) to be used by law enforcement for detecting people and objects. These systems must be FCC certified or in the process of obtaining certification. The gathered information will support the Department of Homeland Security’s System Assessment and Validation for Emergency Responders (SAVER) Program, which conducts objective evaluations of commercial equipment for emergency responder use. Interested vendors are requested to submit company details, product information, and certification status by February 15, 2013. Submissions will be publicly available and may be used to inform future SAVER Program documentation, so proprietary information should not be included. The RFI is strictly for information gathering and planning purposes and does not constitute a solicitation or an offer for contract award. Companies are required to complete and submit a specified form found on the SSC LANT e-commerce website. Vendors should direct technical inquiries to the designated technical contact and contract-related questions to the Contract Specialist. The evaluation of submitted equipment will consider factors such as emergency responder inputs if a related SAVER project is initiated in the future. Vendor responses may be reformatted for public dissemination, and further product information may be requested from vendors following submission.
