The Texas Historical Commission (THC) seeks a roofing restorationcompany with documented experience in roof replacements/restoration forhistorical building projects of the type, scale, and scope described in thisRFP. The objective of this project is to restore the Slaton Harvey House rooffully. The building has an asphalt roof with no tiles or shingles, a flatupper-story parapet decorated with the Santa Fe Railway company symbol, and astepped parapet on the arcaded trackside pavilion. The structure features deepoverhanging eaves supported by decorative brackets. This includes identifyingand repairing all active leaks, addressing structural deficiencies, andapplying a high-performance coating/sealant system to ensure a fullywatertight, warrantied assembly. All roof materials and associated sheet metal flashing shall bereplaced with new materials. The vendor is required to assess site conditions,deficiencies, and repairs. The contractor must work with the project manager andarchitect to obtain approval before replacing all roof materials. Because the Slaton Harvey House is a State Historic Site managedby THC, any roof work must strictly follow the Secretary of the Interior’sStandards for the Treatment of Historic Properties and, in accordance with theprovisions of the Texas Government Code, Construction Services, and Rules andProcedures, THC seeks a contractor experienced in roof replacement and inmeeting all necessary safety requirements. The vendor must have a minimum of five (5) years ofexperience in roof restoration on historical buildings similar to the type ofwork required by this RFP (as judged by THC) to be eligible for the Contractaward. Slaton Harvey House State Historic Site is located at 400 RailroadAvenue, Slaton, TX 79364.
