RFI - Concepts for Design, Construction, and Operation of a Regional Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Production and Storage Facility at Kennedy Space Center or Cape Canaveral Space Force Station

NASA Kennedy Space Center and the United States Space Force Space Launch Delta 45 are conducting market research through Request for Information RFI-KSC-LNGplant-2026 to identify U.S. entities capable of designing, constructing, and operating a regional liquefied natural gas (LNG) production and storage facility. The facility would be located on federal property at either the Kennedy Space Center or Cape Canaveral Space Force Station to support commercial launch providers utilizing methane-fueled rockets. The government envisions a commercially owned and operated facility under an Enhanced Use Lease agreement. The government is seeking conceptual data on production rates, storage capacity, infrastructure configurations, and transportation methods, including the potential use of barge or waterway access. Respondents must address safety and regulatory compliance with NFPA 59A and 49 CFR 193, as well as facility resiliency, cybersecurity, and the operational justification for siting on federal land. Following an amendment to the original timeline, the response deadline has been extended to September 21, 2026. This RFI is intended for planning purposes to inform future strategies and does not constitute a formal solicitation or offer for a contract.
