Riverdale High School Facility Improvements

The Riverdale Joint Unified School District is implementing the Riverdale High School Facility Improvements project on a 21.5-acre site in Fresno County, California. The project is structured in three phases and includes the renovation of the football, soccer, and track stadium, the reconstruction of a parking lot, the construction of a new Agriculture Education Barn facility and accompanying bathroom building, road improvements on S. Hazel Avenue, and the expansion of a stormwater basin. The project is governed by the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), with a Notice of Determination issued on October 29, 2025, stating that the project will not have a significant environmental effect. These studies identified potential impacts on biological resources, such as nesting birds and burrowing owls, and evaluated greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption. Cultural resource inventories concluded that no historical resources eligible for the California Register of Historical Resources are present, though specific mitigation measures are required for potential discoveries. A significant emphasis is placed on tribal consultation with the Santa Rosa Rancheria Tachi-Yokut Tribe, requiring a Curation and Treatment Agreement 30 days prior to construction and mandatory Tribal Cultural Awareness Training for all personnel involved in ground-disturbing activities.
