1. Description of project: Rockaway Contract 3
The East Rockaway Inlet to Rockaway Inlet (or “Rockaway”) project area is in the Borough of Queens, New York City. The Atlantic Oceanfront shoreline, which is a peninsula approximately 10 miles in length, generally referred to as the Rockaways, separates the Atlantic Ocean from Jamaica Bay immediately to the north. This project, Rockaway Contract 3, includes the following: nine elevated, timber, pedestrian crossover structures that will provide ADA access to the beach, sand fence and dune vegetation will be added to the localized areas of the ADA structures. The nine ADA elevated timber crossovers are located at Beach 147th, 142nd, 135th, 131st, 67th, 44th, 17th, 13th and 11th streets. The span of the truss deck is approximately 44 feet over the crest of the dune and has landward and seaward ramps varying in length. There are also options for aluminum railings & hand rails and reinforced plastic lumber decking, as well as options to remove 19 timber groins.
The contract construction range of magnitude is $10 - $25 million with options. Award is projected in September/October 2026. Estimated project duration is 18 months.
2. Responses to this sources sought will be used by the Government to make an appropriate procurement decision. All firms (large or small business) should respond to the project if they are interested in performing it.
