Rocky View County (the County) is seeking qualified consultants to conduct a comprehensive review and research of Tourism within the County. This project will assess various considerations surrounding Tourism development within the County, including an environmental scan of Tourism, the potential uses and regulations, infrastructure and servicing requirements, and market research and analysis respecting financial benefits from the Tourism industry specific to the county. The research will identify emerging trends, opportunities, and threats related to Tourism development across Canada, the province, and the greater Calgary Metropolitan Region. The research will also be built upon existing provincial and municipal strategies, which will aid in further development of the County’s Tourism sector. Drawing from existing literature, the research shall also explore potential uses and development that can be undertaken, especially in the Western portion of the County. The research will include key considerations in evaluating Tourism developments, especially for the identified potential tourism uses. This will include the assessment of infrastructure and servicing needs for Tourism such as water, wastewater, and transportation, and identification of suitable areas where Tourism should occur in the County. The research will also need to highlight important considerations related to agricultural development, environmental preservation, and housing and temporary accommodations, such as vacation rentals.
